Daniel Nolen Photography isn't the traditional portrait service you're used to. We create images that have the same look and feel you notice in fashion magazine ads. I have NEVER had a client who wanted to "be done" with their session; even when it starts getting too dark outside to shoot. They are usually willing to keep trying to make things work and be experimental. They have fun!
I have never been one to just go with the flow (with anything), so it's important that I deliver a one-of-a-kind product that isn't boring-looking, AND I offer the same type of customer service to you that I would want in your shoes. My photography is one of the ways I connect with the world, so naturally, each customer is a chance for me to create impressive images and a fun experience for them. In the photography world, having a unique style helps me avoid the pitfalls of cookie-cutter poses that seem to dominate digital photography. Without getting too technical, the main difference between my style of photography and most of the other photography resources out there is my timing during the sessions as well as my creative eye. My photoshoots are definitely low-key and fun for my clients. We work as a team and never rush things. I trained alongside some of the most creative professional portrait photographers on the West Coast, so I took away a deep respect for maintaining high personal standards while endeavoring to take photos that "tell a story" about my clients in my own style. A creative photo shoot allows me to show my style while staying loyal to the client's needs and individuality, and I believe that humility (on my part) is essential in the creative process.
My clients always finish their shoots feeling like they have accomplished something really cool. I've never met anyone (accept a professional model) who isn't nervous at first in front of a camera, but that feeling is short-lived and goes away after about five minutes into our session.
Digital post-processing techniques are a necessary aspect of digital photography and this is another area that I have worked relentlessly to be good at. My retouching and enhancing techniques are suited to each client's wants, and I create artistic composites where more than one image is combined with the portrait to make a very dramatic and cool-looking image that clients can proudly show off on social media, or hang on the wall.
